Powerboat Signwriting- Kiekhaefer Aeromarine 3

This is an original 1960s racing powerboat being restored in Hamworthy, Poole, and was quite a long job compared to my usual work, it took a few months on and off. It was recently brought to the UK and had been repainted several times, so all the paint was stripped off and some very faint marks were found showing the original signwriting. It wasn’t enough to make full tracings but there was enough to make a start. A lot of time went into looking at original photographs, measuring and estimating proportions, trying to get all the different elements in the right place and right size. Once it was all drawn on it was just a case of painting it all.Living by the coast im surprised I dont get more requests for boat signwriting, I get the odd one now and then, but most are done with vinyl unfortunately. I own a kayak myself, so can actually kayak up to moored boats and signwrite names onto them whilst they’re in the water.
