New workshop – traditional gold leaf sign

Recently I started renting a new workshop on Kimberley Road in Southbourne, it took a few months fixing up the inside, in between jobs, so I had plenty of time to think about what sign to make for it. I went through various ideas but kept coming back to the same style. My long business name didn’t really fit the style so I decided on a complete name change. The secondary text on the sign ‘traditional signwriter’ and ‘telephone…’ was based on old photo I came across of a Victorian greengrocers shop. The sign was made from composite panel surrounded with a versa frame. The blue background was sprayed with 2k automotive paint, the main lettering is 24 carat gold leaf, it was all clear coated with 2k acrylic. The workshop was originally a butchers, built in 1909, and still has some of the original wall tiles and meat hanging rails.
