Gold Leaf shop sign for The Swanage Bookshop

After meeting the owners of The Swanage Bookshop I felt they wanted something traditional, hand drawn, and eye-catching. Owners’ son repaired and painted the fascia while I set about drawing some designs. We settled on the final one and decided for gold leaf shop sign. Main lettering was done in gold leaf, with a blue 3D shadow and then a very dark blue cast shadow, which was a technique very popular on signs in times gone by, but still has massive amounts of eye appeal and is rarely done now, so attracts attention immediately. It is definitely the best gold leaf shop sign in Swanage and Purbeck 🙂
